the scheme, we offer children and young people with disabilities, short
breaks with specially recruited and approved Family Link Carers. The short
break is usually in the home of the carer(s) and an allowance is paid by
Lancashire County Council to the carer(s) for each visit. Carers are people
of all ages and differing life experiences who feel they have time and space
in their lives to care for children with disabilities. They are approved
in the same way as foster carers and therefore are assessed and a number

day of the year. This service for those in despair or those feeling suicidal.
Volunteers are carefully selected and well trained with a good support system.
